DESCRIPTION:Wednesday Waldo Walk at the Fernalds Neck Preserve\n\n \n\nLincolnville Coastal Mountains Land Trust will host a Wednesday Waldo Walk from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on September 10.\n\n \n\nJoin Coastal Mountains volunteer\, Bindy Pendleton\, as she guides hikers through a diversity of habitats on the Fernalds Neck peninsula. Bindy's deep family roots in mid-coast Maine\, paired with her ecologist's eye\, allow her to weave together stories of local conservation coupled with spontaneous natural historical observations. This is a moderate 2 to 3.5 -mile loop which includes hemlock groves\, glacial erratics\, stands of mature pines\, a plethora of mushroom\n\nspecies\, and views of Megunticook lake.\n\n \n\nMeet at 10:00 am at the Fernalds Neck trailhead\, which is located at the end of Fernalds Neck Road in Lincolnville. Remember to please bring water\, sunscreen\, tick protection\, and binoculars\, if you would like.\n\n \n\nIf you are interested in carpooling from Belfast\, feel free to meet Bindy in the Reny's parking lot at 9:30 am. Please call Bindy at 207-323-0817 before Wednesday Sept. 10 for additional carpooling details.\n\n \n\nTo register for this hike\, contact leaht@coastalmountains.org.\n\n \n\nDirections: From Lincolnville Center\, take Rt. 52 south for 2 miles\, then turn right onto Fernalds Neck road. Follow this road to its end\, staying left at the fork. From Camden\, take Rt. 52/Mountain Street north for 5.8 miles\, turning left onto Fernalds Neck Road. Please drive slowly and use the parking lot\, so there aren't any vehicles parked along the road.\n\n \n\n####\n\n \n\nCoastal Mountains Land Trust has worked since 1986 to permanently conserve land to benefit the natural and human communities of the western Penobscot Bay. The Land Trust has protected over 13\,000 acres\, offering 55 miles of trails for public recreation.
