\n\n(Belfast) &ndash\; Coastal Mountains Land Trust&rsquo\;s Waldo County Conservation Initiative invites the community to a fun and entertaining presentation by Bob Duchesne on February 5 at 6pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church\, 37 Miller Street\, Belfast.
\n\n\;
\n\nMaine&rsquo\;s unique natural environment is the result of the state&rsquo\;s history\, geology\, and geography\, making our state one of the best places in America to see birds and other wildlife. But is Maine a little &lsquo\;weird\,&rsquo\; a bit different but in a good way? Bob Duchesne thinks so\, and he explains in a humorous and informative talk\, &ldquo\;Why Maine is Weird.&rdquo\; \; Just about all of it will surprise most Mainers!

\n\nBob became interested in birds in the first grade. Interest grew to passion\, and today Bob is a chapter board member and frequent field trip leader for Maine Audubon. He spearheaded creation of the Maine Birding Trail\, which launched in 2009\, and is the author of \;Maine Birding Trail: The Official Guide to More than 260 Accessible Sites. Bob is well-known for his weekly birding columns in the Bangor Daily News and YouTube videos about birding in Maine and beyond.

\n\nCoastal Mountains Land Trust&rsquo\;s \;Waldo County Conservation Initiative \;continues to build a fund to conserve land within large ecologically significant areas that preserve the most diverse ecosystems in our region\, and special properties valued by our community\, that provide for trails\, access to lakes\, rivers and the ocean\, and spaces for outdoor learning. \n\nCoastal Mountains Land Trust has worked since 1986 to permanently conserve land to benefit the natural and human communities of the western Penobscot Bay region. The Land Trust has protected over 13\,000 acres\, offering 55 miles of trails for public recreation. \;The Land Trust currently has over 25 preserves in Waldo County and was a lead partner alongside the City of Belfast in establishing the Belfast Rail Trail in Belfast.
