DESCRIPTION:The Friends of Fort Knox proudly welcomes John R. Weaver II\; a prominent historical author and nationally known expert on masonry coastal fortifications. As one of the foremost authorities on the subject\, Mr. Weaver will present an overview and brief history of the American Third System of Coastal Defense at Fort Knox on August 27th. Regular gate entrance fees to the Fort apply. In the event of inclement weather\, the presentation will be held in the Fort Knox Visitor Center.\n\n\n\nIn addition to his sold out publishing of the definitive history of the American third system of fortifications\; A Legacy in Brick and Stone\, Mr. Weaver has written three book chapters and numerous technical articles related to the Third System of coastal defense. He consults with National Park Service and several state organizations\, training staff and volunteers on fortification technology\, and gives presentations around the country. He is currently working with Ravelin Films in the production of documentaries about forts of this period.
