DESCRIPTION:LONG STITCH BOOKMAKING WITH JOELLE WEBBER\n\nNovember 18 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm EST\n\n$40.00   $50.00\n\nThis class is part of a 3-week series of book arts classes that will cover various techniques and materials including Decorative Paste Papers\, Japanese Books\, and Long Stitch Books. Each class will focus on a different topic\, while we learn the basics of book binding vocabulary and a bit of book binding history. Students can register for each class separately\, but are also encouraged to come to all three! Additional workshops are November 4 and November 11.\n\nIn the third session\, students will learn the vocabulary\, tools & material of hand book binding a Long Stitch Book. They will create a multi gathering book with many fun uses. Participants will experiment with the challenge of sewing a book with a very long thread. We will also explore the importance of sewing station jigs in creating the text block and cover.\n\nTools & materials provided.\nAbout the Instructor: Joelle Webber has been making books for 40 years. At Mermaid Bindery on Westport Island she offers original artist books\, binding services for fellow creators\, handmade crafts in her roadside shed\, and workshops for several communities.
