Monday, January 20th, in commemoration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the 31st Annual Candlelight Walk and Gathering will begin in front of the Belfast Post Office at 4:30 pm. After the walk to the First Church sanctuary around 5 pm, we will have a community gathering and remembrance with music, readings from Dr. King's dedicated work, and commemoration of past and current struggles for racial equity and social justice. Keynote speaker will be Desiree Vargas, co-founder of "Racial Equity & Justice", dedicated to education and activism around issues of inclusivity and diversity. She is a dynamic community organizer, racial justice advocate and activist, speaker and writer. Join us in honoring the work of Dr. King, and the work of all who continue to struggle for civil rights, inclusivity, and diversity!
