FT Roofing Technician

Horch Roofing is hiring a Roofing Technician who will perform tasks involving physical labor at the shop location, and on residential and commercial roofing projects. The Technician is required to work in a safe manner consistent with best demonstrated practices found in the construction trades. You will be responsible for covering structures with shingles, Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM), or metal. You will fix and repair damaged roofs and operate hand and power tools of all types and use a variety of other equipment designed for the roofing industry.

The company is experiencing a period of growth and has just expanded into the Portland, Maine market with the opening of their second location in South Portland. This position will be based in South Portland, Maine.
The Roofing Technician reports to the site foreman and is responsible for:
Following direction from office staff, job managers and the foreman
Assist with loading/unloading material and equipment from the trucks in the morning and evening
Carries bundles and other materials
Erects and dismantles temporary safety barricades, staging, fences and other safety equipment
Strips existing materials from roofing
Installs shingles, EPDM, metal, or other materials to make the roof watertight
Cleans up debris and loads into dumpsters
Cleans job site (raking, sweeping, using a magnet on customer property)
Cleans trailers (organizing, putting away tools)
Cleans trucks inside/out
Keeps shop area clear and puts tools away in shop
Maintains and repairs equipment, including but not limited to compressors, hoses, guns, and brackets
Follows all safety rules and regulations
Attends training, including OSHA as required
May operate a forklift under Horch Roofing license as needed
Job Qualifications:
You must have the ability to learn and retain knowledge
Have the ability to determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
Have general knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, building and the roofing industry
