The Charm is an 85’ gaff rigged schooner that carries up to 34 passengers and sails from Thompson’s Wharf in Belfast. We are a family run business that operates from Memorial Day through the end of September and are looking for Relief Captains and Crew to sail Charm on morning, afternoon, and sunset cruises. We have full-time and part-time openings for energetic individuals in a positive working environment. We will provide training and even document your sea time if you are interested in pursuing your own Captain's license. We have 3 shifts per day and each shift is 4 hours long. As a Captain your responsibilities include: · Supervising the crew and overseeing the daily inspection of Charm prior to sailing · Keeping daily inspection paperwork current · Ensuring that passengers embark and disembark safely · Operating Charm in a safe manner and ensure passenger comfort on every cruise · Determining if a cruise should be delayed or canceled due to adverse weather To be considered for a posting as Captain you must: · Hold a minimum 50 GT USCG Inland Master’s license with Aux Sail endorsement · Pass a pre-employment drug-test or be enrolled in a random drug testing program · Have current First Aid and CPR certificates • Have experience running large vessels in tight quarters · Have an accident-free sailing resume and verifiable references • Participate in and/or conduct monthly safety drills with the crew • Have outstanding customer service skills A generous compensation plan makes this a unique opportunity for the right person.
