Calligraphic Page Design & Folded Boxes

In Calligraphic Page Design, we will explore calligraphic mark making, using a collection of simple tools with India Ink. Joelle will guide the class through the basics broad edged tools, as well as Eastern pointed brushes. Discussing page design from calligraphic and book arts perspectives. Exploring lyrical & staccato marks that can be used in pattern or illustrative ways on the page. Towards the end of the session we will shape useful paper boxes to see these papers come to life.

About the instructor: Joelle Webber has spent 40 years collecting book arts techniques in college & workshop settings. She now designs classes for many different communities of makers based on her experience in writing, paper decorating, collage, calligraphy, pop-up, paper sculpting, book binding and box making.
