Designed as a continuation of Color Theory I, this course advances the technical and conceptual skills introduced in the first session. Through more complex color-based assignments, students deepen their understanding of composition, pigment mixing, color harmony, and the translation of observation into nuanced working color relationships. Emphasis is placed on refining paint handling, developing surface sensitivity, and strengthening personal approaches to oil painting.
Students will continue working in oils while building greater fluency with methods and materials discussed in the introductory course. Each course runs for six weeks and includes demonstrations, handouts, discussion, and critique to further integrate theory and practice.
Prerequisite: Completion of Color Theory I is required before enrolling in Color Theory II.
A materials list will be provided upon registration.
Please bring a brown-bag lunch.
