This is Puppetry

Puppets have a unique place in the performing arts, people have used them to entertain and tell stories throughout history. Have you ever wondered how all those puppets that you see on television and in movies are made? In "This is Puppetry" we will learn from master puppeteer Eric Weiss the secrets to building our very own foam patterned hand puppets.
 
We will learn all the materials, elements, and skills that go into making them look so real and lifelike. We will also learn fundamentals to creating a character through the use of color, texture, different materials, and movement, as well as how to manipulate your puppet to bring your character to life.
 
By the end of the class you will be the proud owner of your very own foam patterned hand & rod puppet!
 
Basic hand sewing skills are highly encouraged, however no other previous puppetry skills needed! Just bring your imagination and creativity!
