Let’s get empowered with power tools!
In Woodworking Camp for Girls we will construct unique designs out of wood with the guidance of woodworker/artist Finn Walsh! Come with your own design in mind or let yourself be inspired! We will brainstorm ideas by looking at artists who use wood as well as find inspiration in nature. By practicing basic techniques and problem solving skills we will start to turn our ideas into a reality!
By taking our projects through the design process: from simple sketch, model scales, to finished object, we will learn what it means to be an industrial designer. Students can expect to learn and use hand saws, the band saw, power drills, hammers, and other hand tools.
Tool knowledge and understanding is a valuable and important life-skill for independence, even outside the art-making or woodworking environment. This is a fun and create way to learn these highly important skills! If you would like to learn or enhance your woodworking knowledge, please join us! All materials included.
