Discover how mesmerizing hot glass can be as you work with other students and an experienced instructor to create your own stemless wine glass! Students will receive an orientation to the Glassworks studio, safety information, and an introduction to the basic tools used for hot glass sculpting and glassblowing. After watching a demonstration, students will then work with a skilled instructor to design, inflate, and shape a stemless wine glass. Working with hot glass requires teamwork. Students will learn how to be a good assistant, and help each other throughout the process. Finished pieces will need to cool slowly overnight before they are ready to take home. Students may pick up their work the afternoon following class at the Waterfall Arts reception desk on the main floor outside the gallery. Arrangements can be made to have pieces shipped for an additional fee. No previous experience working with hot glass is needed! More experienced students are welcome. This is an excellent opportunity to try a new shape or design, practice a familiar shape, or to bring a friend who is new to glass and enjoy creating together. About the instructor: Brian Frus is an artist, designer, educator, tech, and gallerist who has specialized with glass for over 25 years. He enjoys projects creating custom and unique interior design, lighting, public art, awards, and sculpture. Professor Frus retired from academia in 2021 to become a Maine based artist and gallery owner, where he continues to create and educate about glass art.
