INTRODUCTION TO THE IPAD FOR ARTMAKING

The iPad is a fun and powerful tool for making art. It can be used as a sketchbook for afternoons in a cafe, a mobile art studio for travel, a place to try out new ideas, or a way to create art that can be printed out and hung on a wall. 

Procreate, the best-known iPad art program, is a digital-art powerhouse, giving you tools for sketching, painting, even making collages. This 3-week class will start you off confidently by introducing Procreate’s basic tools, then introduce you to some of its lesser-known treasures. It will also provide an overview of ArtSet4, another painting program whose brushes have even lusher textures. 

The course is designed to set you off on your iPad art journey, and suggest resources for further exploration. Ages 15+ *Must have an iPad and an Apple Pencil that works with it. Please download Procreate before the class. ArtSet4 is optional but fun, too. The programs cost about $10 apiece.

About the Instructor: Debbie Galant spent a career as a writer before creating a strong art practice over the past decade. She has worked in pastels, oils, collage – and still paints with acrylics – but found a true love after being introduced to Procreate on the iPad. She has been playing with and studying the medium for two years. Her iPad work has been featured at the Tiny Gallery in Montclair, NJ  and the Watchung Arts Center in Watchung, NJ.
