Monotype prints are the bridge between painting and printmaking. Fast, flexible, and fun, this process is popular among artists who want to experiment or play with an idea without the pressure of extensive techniques or material cost. In this workshop, we’ll cover dark field monotypes as well as water -based transfer monotypes. No previous print experience is required. Ages 16+

(*Note: Taken in a series or individually, this workshop plus Collaborative Relief Print Workshop and Crash Course in Chine Collé are a great way to learn a new skill to build or begin your printmaking toolkit.)

About the instructor: Annika Earley makes drawings and prints about transformation, in-between states, and the experience of being a woman and parent. Born and raised near Basel, Switzerland, she often uses Swiss and German folktales as reference points in her work.

Earley holds an MFA from Maine College of Art & Design and an M.Phil from College of the Atlantic. She has been a resident at the Ellis-Beauregard Foundation in Rockland, ME, Hewnoaks Artist Colony in Lovell, ME, Monson Arts in Monson, ME, Pace House Residency in Stonington, ME, the Walkaway House in North Adams, MA, and at the Burren College of Art in Ballyvaughan, Ireland. She has been supported by the St. Botolph Foundation in Boston, MA, the New York Foundation for the Arts, The Albert K, Murray Fund, and SPACE Gallery’s American Rescue Plan Grant. She has taught printmaking foundations, as well as monotype processes, at Maine College of Art & Design and is a former member of Pickwick Independent Press.
