Join artist Joelle Webber and create your own magical paper lantern. We will explore different ways to cut, poke and shape our designs with light. We will also learn different ways to attach our hanging ribbons. Tools and hand-decorated papers will be provided, but feel free to bring your favorite translucent papers if you have them! Ages 8+ The focus of our creativity in this class will be to consider what we are hopeful and grateful for in the coming year. To celebrate the Dark Skies exhibition in our gallery, this workshop will be followed by an (optional) sunset Gratitude Walk with our lit lanterns across the pedestrian bridge at 5pm. Dress warm!! About the instructor: Joelle Webber has spent 40 years collecting book arts techniques in college & workshop settings. She now designs classes for many different communities of makers based on her experience in writing, paper decorating, collage, calligraphy, pop-up, paper sculpting, book binding and box making.
