Taught by: Mary Delano, Christine Fraga Thornton, Kristine Biegle Using all natural materials to make a beautifully decorated tunic or wrap. Just as our Maine ancestors turned to the natural world to make clothes from linen, and added color and decoration using natural dyes and embellishments, so will we. Over the course of three days, we will dye linen cloth in the beautiful blue dye derived from the indigo plant - which is featured in the Maker's Guild Dye Garden every summer. If you have basic sewing machine skills and want to use them, you can learn to draft a pattern and fit a tunic to YOUR body. Or you can simply focus on making a wrap. There will be lots of time to explore a variety of surface design techniques and materials to add color and decoration. Students can block print, paint, draw and/or stitch on the fabric to create a unique and very personal garment. The only limit is your imagination!
