Community Prevention Educator

Exciting opportunity to be a part of a dynamic community organization committed to improving the lives of those we serve. New Hope Midcoast is a Regional Domestic Violence Resource Center that offers support to people in Sagadahoc, Lincoln, Knox, and Waldo counties affected by domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. We also provide educational resources to assist our communities in creating a safer, healthier future.

We currently have an opening on our education team for a Community Prevention Educator in Sagadahoc and Lincoln Counties. As a Community Prevention Educator, they will connect and collaborate with community organizations to encourage violence prevention, raise awareness, and strengthen their ability to support survivors. They will give presentations and trainings throughout the four counties we serve, but focus on Sagadahoc and Lincoln counties. With the education team, they will work to create, plan and advertise awareness events. They will also be a part of the team staffing our agency’s 24-hour helpline. This includes approximately 8 hours of helpline coverage per week during the work day (9AM-5PM). Additionally, this position requires after-hours and weekend direct service work approximately 4-5 times a year.

We seek a candidate who is:

  • Equipped with effective listening, oral and written communication skills, including public speaking experience
  • Able to deliver content virtually and in-person with practiced facilitation skills
  • Organized, with strong attention to detail and a structured way of approaching tasks
  • Comfortable working independently, with limited day-to-day supervision AND comfortable working collaboratively with other
    team members and community partners
  • Punctual, dependable, and committed to the work
  • Respectful, kind, and empathetic
  • Passionate about working toward a safe, equitable world free from abuse

Qualifications

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of a valid and active Maine driver’s license, a reliable vehicle, and adequate insurance, or access to reliable transportation required.
  • Basic computer skills (working knowledge of Zoom and Google Suites helpful but not required)

Additional Job Information

  • Full-time (40 hr) position
  • Based out of our Bath or Damariscotta office, with a hybrid-work model option
  • Requires travel throughout our catchment area (with mileage reimbursement)
  • *Salary starts at $23.50/hr (commensurate with relevant experience), with additional compensation via stipend for completion of after-hours and weekend direct service work.
