About Us

Open Gardens 2025 begins June 21st. Visit our website for details.

The Belfast Garden Club has promoted the creation and care of public gardens and presented speakers to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening since 1929. The Belfast Garden Club awards at least one scholarship each year for a Waldo County student to attend Tanglewood 4-H Camp in Lincolnville. The funds for the scholarship are raised at the Club’s annual Plant Sale on Memorial Day weekend.

The Belfast Garden Club is responsible for maintaining 13 public gardens in the City. The Garden Club also hosts the Open Garden Days all summer, donates $500 to a local, club-chosen environmental group, and donates $250 for gardening and related books to libraries in Waldo County, also funding evening speakers at the Belfast Free Library each year. In addition, the BGC decorates Post Office Square and the Library for the holidays. The Club hosts monthly environmental and conservation talks as well as monthly speakers on garden-related topics at our meetings. All Club meetings and talks are open to the public. The Club welcomes new members year round, come and join us.
