About Us
The Sail, Power, and Steam Museum is so much more than ''just a museum.'' Museums today are becoming more interactive, and we're going to be leading the trend!
From in-water boats ready for the experienced sailor, to professional instructive classes for the novice -- to glorious day sails on the bay -- or, to private charters -- to displays of nautical and industrial days of yesterday -- to working boat models and a functioning scale model of a lime kiln -- to steam engines that ''puff'' along just like they did in their hay day - to volunteer opportunities to learn about, rebuild and restore historic vessels, there's a lot going on at the Sail, Power, and Steam Museum. with our enthusiastic, knowledgeable instructors!
We invite you to join us on the historic site of the Old Snow Shipyard on the waterfront in Rockland, Maine, as we live our mission of enriching lives through hands-on, interactive and educational experiences while preserving and telling the stories of the rich heritage of sail, power, and steam vessels along the coast of Maine and beyond.
SO come on down, grab a Sextant off the shelf of our Navigation Display, bring the North Star down to the horizon -- you'll get Latitude 44' 05' ... just like the early navigators did when they first discovered this special spot on the shores of Rockland Harbor.
