Slow Stitching

Slow Stitching

Slow stitching is the lost art of hand sewing like our ancestors did. It provides time away from our fast paced and noisy world. Slow stitching gives us time to be quiet and focus on the moment. Our hands are busy while our mind is free to wander. There are no patterns or rules to follow. It's not about perfection. In fact we will welcome and embrace imperfection!

Slow stitching is a great way to use what you already have, to recycle old worn fabrics. Threads and fabrics are provided but feel free to bring in any you have to use or share. Do bring a few straight pins to hold layers of fabric in place, 1-2 hand sewing needles and a pair of scissors.

This course will explore the basics and beyond of slow stitching. Each participant will create a stitch journal while delving into the influences of Japanese boro stitching and European embroidery. All levels welcome whether you have never hand stitched before or have done so for years.
