The New Klezmer Trio brings together three of the most prominent young musicians of the international klezmer scene to perform new instrumental concert works, Yiddish songs, and dance music. Based in Boston, MA, the members of the New Klezmer Trio have performed and taught across the world, from New York to New Orleans, Saratoga Springs to Shanghai, Weimar to Vienna. Klezmer music is soulful and lively, a genre that originated among the Jews of Eastern Europe. In its present form, klezmer incorporates elements of German, Baroque, Slavic, Ottoman, religious Jewish music, and jazz. In the hands of the New Klezmer Trio, the musical effects are electrifying. The trio are Adah Hetko, Nat Seelen, and Rebecca Mac; all are cultural scholars and superb musicians. Saturday, November 16, Concert from 7 to 8:30 pm, at Temple Beth El, 183 French St. in Bangor. Sunday, November 17, from 2 to 3:30 pm: lecture and demonstration at Bagaduce Music, 49 South Street in Blue Hill. The events with The New Klezmer Trio are presented by Bagaduce Music.
