Overview:
The Digital Content & Communications Assistant assists with the strategy, creation, and distribution of digital content that enhances the museum's brand, promotes exhibitions and events, and engages audiences across platforms. This role blends writing copy, developing digital ads and social media strategy, and coordinating content presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assists in planning and executing content calendars across email, social media, and web
- Writes and edits copy for newsletters, press releases, blogs, event descriptions, and social media
- Assists in the distribution of all press release materials (digital, print)
- Responsible for social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube) with a focus on storytelling and audience engagement, including all scheduling and posting
- Assists in the development and execution of digital ad campaigns (Google, Facebook/Meta, Instagram)
- Assists with analyzing performance metrics to optimize future content
- Assists with setup/teardown/other needs during events
- Captures & creates day-of content on event days
- Assists with museum floor display support
Essential Skills & Requirements:
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Proficiency with tools like Mailchimp, Canva, Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, and basic CMS or other comparative platforms
- 2–4 years of experience in communications, journalism, or nonprofit/museum marketing
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices and DEI-focused communications
- Photography/DSLR skills
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods, to respond with physical speed and agility in a variety of environments and weather conditions, to lift, carry, and physically manage up to 25 lbs.
