Social Media & Marketing Assistant - On-site

Overview:


The Social Media & Marketing Assistant assists with the strategy, creation, and distribution of digital content that enhances the museum's brand, promotes exhibitions and events, and engages audiences across platforms.  This role develops digital ads and social media strategy, and coordinates content presentation, while writing copy.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Promotes the OHTM brand and drives audience engagement via storytelling on social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube)
  • Analyzes performance metrics to optimize future content
  • Assists in the development and execution of digital ad campaigns (Google, Facebook/Meta, Instagram)
  • Plans and executes content calendars across email, social media, and web
  • Writes and edits copy for newsletters, press releases, blogs, event descriptions, and social media
  • Assists in the distribution of all press release materials (digital, print)
  • Captures & creates day-of content on event days
  • Assists with museum floor display support
  • Assists with setup/teardown/other needs during events
Essential Skills & Requirements:
  • Proficiency with social media and digital platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube)
  • Proficiency with support tools like Mailchimp, Canva, Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, and basic CMS
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
  • 2-4 years of experience in social media marketing
  • Photography/DSLR skills
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods, to respond with physical speed and agility in a variety of environments and weather conditions, to lift, carry, and physically manage up to 25 lbs.
